This policy explains what happens to information when you use Gravel Calculator at https://gravelcalculator.xyz. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
Information we collect
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect names, email addresses or other personal details directly, except where you choose to send them through the contact form described below. There is no login, no profile and no user database.
What you enter on the site
Every calculation on this site runs in your browser. The dimensions, depths, densities and prices you type are used by JavaScript already loaded on the page, and none of them is transmitted to us or to anyone else. There is no calculation server to send them to. Two features keep some of that input on your device. Recent calculations are stored in your browser's local storage so you can reopen them, and they stay there until you clear them with the button on the calculator or clear your browser storage. Sharing a result puts the inputs in the page URL, so if you send that link the recipient sees the values in it. That is the only way anything you type leaves your device, and it only happens when you choose to share.
Browser storage
The site stores two small values in your browser's local storage: your theme preference (light, dark or system) and your answer to the cookie notice. Both are first party, both stay on your device, and neither identifies you. Clearing your browser storage removes them.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people find useful and where the site falls short. It processes technical and usage information such as pages viewed, device and browser type, and referring site, along with city level location and more granular device detail than a basic browser and OS name. IP anonymisation is enabled, and analytics storage stays disabled until you accept the cookie notice.
We also allow Google Analytics data to be used for ads personalisation, which lets audiences and key events built from this data be shared with a linked Google Ads account to deliver more relevant ads. This only applies to visitors who accept the cookie notice; if you decline, your data is excluded from both analytics and ads personalisation.

Advertising
This site displays advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Personalised advertising is disabled unless you accept the cookie notice; if you decline, ads may still appear in non personalised form based on general context rather than your browsing history.

Contact form
The contact form is delivered by Web3Forms, which forwards your message to our inbox by email. The name, email address, optional subject and message you type are transmitted to Web3Forms for that purpose. We do not store your message anywhere else, and we use your address only to reply.
Hosting and security
The site is served through Cloudflare. As part of delivering and protecting the site, Cloudflare processes technical request information such as IP address, browser and device information, and request timing. This happens for every visit and is a normal part of how the site reaches you safely.
Performance monitoring
Separately from the Google Analytics described above, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how quickly pages load and how the site is used in aggregate. It measures metrics such as page load time, resource timing, device and browser type, and coarse geographic region, built from data Cloudflare already collects to serve the site rather than from a script that profiles you individually. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies, local storage or other client side tracking to identify you or follow you across sites, so it runs regardless of your cookie notice answer.

Session recording and heatmaps
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with the site through features such as session replays and click/scroll heatmaps. Clarity captures behavioral metrics and session data to help us improve site usability and user experience. Website usage data is captured using first- and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies. Data retention
We do not operate a database of visitors, so there is nothing on our side to retain. Information held by the third parties named above is retained according to their own policies.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, get in touch and we will delete the message.
